At Chandrika Thomas London, our unwavering commitment to our planet Earth and sustainability forms the cornerstone of our ethos. We passionately recognise the paramount importance of preserving our precious world for current and future generations. Environmental challenges loom large, and we believe in the power of collective action, where even the smallest eco-friendly choices can ripple into substantial positive impacts. From meticulously sourcing sustainable materials for our products to employing eco-conscious manufacturing processes, we strive to minimise our carbon footprint and promote ethical practices. Sustainability isn't just a buzzword for us; it's an integral part of our identity, and we actively seek to inspire others to join us in this noble endeavour. Eco-friendliness contributes to preserving our precious Earth.
This week, we are observing Zero Waste Week and take pride in sharing our dedication to sustainability. Zero Waste Week encourages individuals and businesses to rethink their consumption habits, reduce waste, and embrace sustainable living. Our mission is built around these values. We're excited to show how we're contributing to this global movement.
Our Sustainable Efforts
At the core of our values is a deep commitment to sourcing our ingredients in an ethical and responsible way. We take immense pride in using pure botanical elements, which truly capture the essence of nature's aromatic wonders. We also understand the significance of guaranteeing the safety and accessibility of our fragrances. Therefore, our blend, which is closest to botanical, is carefully manipulated to eliminate the most harmful allergens, allowing us to offer our scents to a wider audience.
We work closely with dedicated partners who share our commitment to sustainability, ensuring transparency and ethical sourcing throughout our supply chain. Our rigorous ingredient selection process includes sourcing oils exclusively from certified suppliers and upholding responsible practices. Our mission is to preserve the environment and promote responsible practices, and these values are deeply woven into every aspect of our operations.
We've been using the same tooling, dye-cut machine, and foiling plate for over a decade, which speaks volumes about their quality. We take good care of them, ensuring they're stored properly and used consistently, which allows us to maintain top-notch craftsmanship and quality standards.
In our efforts to significantly reduce our plastic footprint, we've undertaken substantial initiatives to move towards a 95% plastic-free approach. One of these measures involves eliminating lamination from our front labels reducing our reliance on plastic materials. While this might make our labels more susceptible to scratches, it's a conscious choice we gladly embrace to prioritise our planet's health. Furthermore, we've entirely phased out plastic from our lids, opting for sustainable alternatives that align perfectly with our environmentally-friendly values.
We're committed to making the most of every available resource, leaving little to no room for wastage. For example, our excess papers and fragrance sticks – find new life as stuffing for our packaging, embodying our dedication to recycling and reducing our carbon footprint. These actions reflect our holistic approach to sustainability and unwavering commitment to a greener future.
When it comes to our packaging, we take a hands-on approach. I oversee the meticulous handmade crafting of each box, ensuring top-notch quality and a touch of luxury. With a skilled team by our side, we source materials locally in the UK, supporting local businesses and creating opportunities for others. This commitment to local sourcing enriches the community and guarantees exceptional handmade boxes. What truly sets our packages apart is their craftsmanship and recyclability, allowing our clients to repurpose them for various uses, such as elegant jewellery boxes, showcasing their true versatility.
Moreover, we're proud to embrace innovative printing methods for our shipping labels. Instead of traditional ink, we opt for heat to imprint the necessary information on our labels. This forward-thinking approach eliminates the need for ink cartridges and reduces waste.
Our Fragrance-Infused Replica
In the recent Burghley Horse Trials, we collaborated with the exceptionally talented artisan known as Susan e Lamb Botanicals. They have artfully produced what we proudly call the Fragrance-Infused Replica, a stunning work of art meticulously crafted from eco-friendly materials. This masterpiece features a white jesmonite base, chosen for its non-dusty and environmentally responsible properties, ensuring it can be handled without leaving any residue on one's hands. Within this exquisite replica lies an absorbent plaster insert carefully designed to capture the essence of our perfumes. On the opposite side, a dedicated space awaits the placement of our perfume bottle label. As a sustainable alternative to traditional perfume samples, the Fragrance-Infused Replica allows our customers to experience our scents and aligns with our commitment to ecological responsibility.
I believe that as we show care for our environment, it's equally crucial to extend our support to one another. Our collaboration with fellow small business owners is our commitment to bolstering local enterprises. It's our means of actively contributing to the success of businesses within our community and solidifying a sense of mutual support. We firmly stand by the idea that we can foster a thriving local business landscape that benefits us all by working together and lifting each other up.
During this Zero Waste Week, remember that even our most minor actions can significantly impact our environment. Whether choosing reusable over disposable, recycling diligently, or reducing our overall waste, each decision matters. It's a chance to be more conscious of our choices and their consequences. By embracing a Zero Waste mindset, we lessen our footprint and inspire others to do the same. Together, we can make a meaningful difference and work towards a more sustainable future.
